Earlier this month, CHRF’s Single Cell Genomics team traveled to Singapore for the Human Cell Atlas General Meeting—a space where scientists from across the world came together to imagine the future of global health, one cell at a time.

They shared findings from their work in Mirzapur, where over 23,000 nasal cells were sequenced to understand how infections affect children on a cellular level. They also presented early insights into how newborn immune systems respond to vaccines, and contributed cross-country analysis on how immune cells react to SARS-CoV-2.

Dr. Senjuti Saha gave a talk on understanding disease in a changing world—reminding the room that research must center people, not just data, and be as inclusive as the world it hopes to heal.

The team ended their trip with a visit to Illumina’s manufacturing facility, witnessing the full journey of a sequencing machine—a reminder of how far science travels, and how many hands shape it.

This work is rooted in community, powered by collaboration, and carried forward with care. We are deeply grateful to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the Gates Foundation for supporting our journey in building single-cell genomics capacity—in Bangladesh, for Bangladesh, with Bangladesh.
