We’re excited to share that Dr. Senjuti Saha, Deputy Executive Director of CHRF, was featured on the Double-stranded podcast, hosted by Mike Kazemi from the University of Toronto.

In the episode, Dr. Saha discusses CHRF’s pioneering work in genomic research in Bangladesh, including the discovery of Chikungunya virus as a cause of pediatric meningitis and the establishment of the CHRF Genomics Center, which played a key role in sequencing SARS-CoV-2 in the country.

She also highlights the challenges faced by low- and middle-income countries, such as limited funding and access to scientific resources, while stressing the importance of equitable vaccine access and decentralizing vaccine manufacturing. Dr. Saha then shares her inspiration behind the Building Scientists for Bangladesh initiative, driven by her own privilege of growing up with microbiologist parents, and her commitment to empower the next generation of scientists.
