About CHRF

The Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, advancing scientific knowledge, and promoting science education among diverse audiences. CHRF is registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau and was founded in 2007 by a multidisciplinary research group. We operate with the core mission to improve child health by facilitating appropriate policy decisions on the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, through quality research and advocacy using available resources. We conduct research in four hospitals (Dhaka Shishu Hospital, Dr. MR Khan Shishu hospital, Chittagong Ma-O-Shishu Hospital, and Kumudini Women’s Medical College) and five microbiology laboratories around the country. We collaborate with different international organizations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, World Health Organization, Edinburgh University, Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University, Centre for Disease Control, etc.

We invite applications for the position of “Molecular Biologist” to join our Building Scientists for Bangladesh Team.

Job location: Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Required Candidate Profile

  • Master’s degree in microbiology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, or related field required.
  • 1-2 years of research lab experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of molecular biology principles and techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, and qPCR.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills essential.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic team player with initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Bangla.

Salary

Negotiable (depending on the experience and/or qualifications of the candidate).

Role

  • Utilize molecular biology techniques for microorganism characterization, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, and real-time PCR.
  • Prepare sequencing libraries from clinical samples, including DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with team members for efficient workflow and accurate reporting.
  • Handle samples adhering to safety guidelines and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow established protocols for sequencing library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment for optimal performance.
  • Demonstrate techniques to high school and university students.
  • Coordinate training programs and workshops, maintaining a calendar and logistics.
  • Assist in compiling lecture material and creating content for CHRF's platforms.
  • Promote CHRF's training programs to institutions and universities.
  • Organize science camps for high school students and travel if needed.
  • Stay updated with scientific literature and engage in lab activities for skill development.
